Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen jest grą akcji, w której gracze dostają możliwość toczenia potyczek za pomocą tytułowych Transformerów. Fabuła opiera się na filmie o tym samym tytule i jest kolejną historią o konflikcie pomiędzy dowodzonymi przez Optimusa Prime’a Autobotami i zagrażającymi ludzkości Deceptikonami rządzonymi przez Megatona.
Gracze mają możliwość wyboru swojej postaci z szerokiej gamy dostępnych Transformerów. W programie dostępne są między innymi najbardziej znane postaci z serii Generacja I: Starscream, Sentinel Prime, Sunstreaker czy Megatron. Każdy z nich posiada swoje własne unikatowe umiejętności oraz uzbrojenie. Akcja rozgrywa się w różnych lokacjach na całym świecie. Tocząc walkę po stronie Autobotów lub Deceptikonów odwiedzamy na przykład Kair i Szanghaj.
Wysokie tempo rozgrywki zapewnia możliwość momentalnej zmiany naszej postaci z pojazdu w robota. Zabawę uatrakcyjnia również fakt, że w grze dostępne są nie tylko roboty pojazdy, ale również samoloty.
